Organisers

The conference is coordinated by an inter-disciplinary group of researchers at Cardiff University:

Leah Ashe is an early-stage researcher with the EU Purefood network in sustainable food. She is based at Cardiff University and researches school food as a platform for sustainable social development and human rights. You can follow her on the Purefood blog or on Twitter, and you can contact her by email at AsheLM@cardiff.ac.uk.

Claire Bloomfield is researching the public procurement of hospital food and its links with sustainable development. Whilst there is evidence of success in other areas of public food procurement such as school food, the hospital sector has few examples of good practice. Her research will attempt to find some reasoning for this apparent resistance to change.

Paul Chalmers researches street food in Bolivia.

Arthur Getz researches East African food.

Jessica Paddock researches class and farmers markets.

Hannah Pitt is currently researching for a PhD on community gardens in south Wales, seeking to understand their character and characters, impacts and affects. This is funded by Presidential Scholarship at Cardiff University . She previously worked in policy and campaigns for environmental NGOs. Find out more at http://hannahpitt.wordpress.com

Susannah McWilliam researches the sustainability of hospital food.

Jessica Spayde is a member of the Purefood network and researches the role of the private sector in public procurement.

The programme looks fantastic. It is a shame I am unable to take part as I am going to be away. Would like to be on the loop for further events, though.
Best of luck with the event.
